At this point, I oppose re-enabling it.
There are four Centre Registry administrators now (Dieter van Uytvanck, Thorsten Trippel, Sander Maijers and Sebastian Drude) and there is an e-mail alias to contact them, which is clearly shown on the prominent 'Contacting us' page. Over the months during which the Centre Registry was administered only by at most 4 people, there were only a handful of administrative requests which could often be quickly handled.
Operating, registering and maintaining a Centre Registry SAML Service Provider (application management, key management, identity federation administration, development work on Centre Registry to use SAML AAI) to have such a features is too costly in my opinion. Also, managing access rights (authorization part within the Centre Registry) so that academic users can administer their own entries, as originally planned, would be a great challenge on top of that, I expect.
