Design and Functionality:

• Planned alignment of the overall style between main CLARIN.EU website, VLO and http://weblicht.sfs.uni-tuebingen.de/Aggregator/ towards an up to date design (minimal, more contrast) along the lines of the current FCS-Aggregator development
• multi-linguality would be nice, but requires lot of effort -> low priority
• Availability information should be more present

Facets:

• there are competing requirements: more facets / less facets
  • how to deal with "problematic" facets (keyword, subject, genre, ...) - incoherent set of too many different values; however the lists tend to become consistent, when "zooming in" to individual collections
    -> consider them as "conditional" facets
• in general move away from the idea of one static set of facets for all

try to identify

• when defining recommendations for CMD, don't overspecialize on VLO, consider also other use cases, especially citability (which requires Author/Contributor?)
• objections to the propositions to broaden the definitions of facets (Time coverage, Country, Language)

"Would be the situation where we actually come from"

• Introduce time coverage (see Definition of TimeCoverage from VLO-Taskforce )
  • requires analysis of the existing data
  • selection of appropriate format (see ​ETDF, ​ODRF )
  • discuss definition of "coverage"
    VLO taskforce proposes: "... time when original texts were written or speech recordings made";
    DCMI defines ​coverage as "The spatial or temporal topic of the resource, the spatial applicability of the resource, or the jurisdiction under which the resource is relevant."
    i.e. do we express creation time or the "about time" of the resources
  • How to deal with born digital material wrt creation time?
• Resource Type
  • need to finalize the proposed controlled vocabularies ( VLO-taskforce ResourceType )
  • normalisation on-going
  • is related to but not to be merged/mixed with the ResourceRef media type (currently rendered as: text, application, audio, other ?? )
  • make the facet more prominent:
    • could be even rendered on the start page as main entry point
    • represent as (consistent) icon-set
    • consider adapt display (visible facet) by resource type

  • check back with legal committee
  • consider edm:rights (see ​Europeana Licensing Framework, ​Available Rights Statements)
  • ensure alignment with the CLARIN distinction: PUB/ACA/RES

• ACDH has set up ​own instance of VLO for developing / experimenting with new features
