dropping components on 'big' components/profiles

When a component gets in the editor bigger then the available screen estate it becomes impossible to drag&drop components from the list at the bottom of the screen to the out of view part of the component.

A solution could be to divide the editor and the list of components by a splitter, which can minimize the component list when screen estate is needed but in other cases keeps the list in view.

The 'split panel' layout has been implemented in r1733. It would probably be better to have the save/publish buttons fixed below the editor (so always in view) but getting this right is a bit tricky. They are now on the top, always visible which is probably ok.
