Ticket owner drop-down

Description
Apparently the 'owner' field on tickets in the edit form (and in the re-assign widget) can be replaced with a pre-populated drop-down. The MPI Trac has this or used to have this.
I think the recent change w.r.t. Trac usernames make the need for something like this more pressing, it can be hard to guess and remember someone's username.

I recognize the issue. However, the user.clarin.eu user store is an LDAP directory and authentication is done by Apache httpd: how would Trac understand what developers there are? This requires some plugin in Trac that is as far as I know only a theoretical possibility.
I'm sorry, I had forgotten to include the information I had found on this. There's some info at the official Trac website. I guess the list of users would need to be taken out of the LDAP, either dynamically or through a regular export. The FlexibleAssignToPlugin seems to be the most flexible solution but requires some Python coding.
Isn't a table of all active CLARIN developers sufficient for this Want? We already have https://user.clarin.eu/facebook and the Trac people pages. We can solve the issue with that solution, in essence. What do you think?
An easily accessible list of all users with usernames would be great indeed. The facebook link doesn't seem to work. I have the feeling that the People page is not complete and does not get maintained very well.

I found that https://user.clarin.eu/facebook was set to admin-only recently, so that won't help indeed. Now there is a drop-down with developer suggestions. In the mailing list I announced some further work on this. The automatic galleries for developers and other groups is a task in progress but has lower priority now.
