Use a strategy similar to the VLO for generating a canonical link element in the header of each page to improve results in search engine and statistics.
Example:
/details/1002.1?backPage=0&backPageVersion=0
should have
/details/1002
as its canonical url. Or possibly even

Implemented in a similar fashion as the vlo.
For collection details the canonical url /details/{id} is used. This could easily be changed in a handle link.
