CCR coordinators virtual meeting 2017-11-06

Documents

preparation

  • [Menzo and Ineke] extend the vote and contact coordinators from DK and BG to still vote
  • DONE [Menzo and Ineke] write down the procedure in the CCR Guidelines, and ask feedback
  • [Susanne] discuss the bit rate concept with Denis Arnold
  • [all] (re)familiarize yourself with the VLO facet concepts spreadsheet
  • experiment using composition of generic concepts to construct the semantic context for the VLO facets
  • [Menzo and Ineke] move, potentially, the CCR Guidelines from Overleaf to Google doc
  • [Menzo] restyle meeting pages (like this one)
  • [all] think about alternatives for Google Hangout

Agenda

  • discuss the procedure for approving concepts
  • discuss VLO concept set
  • discuss generic concept experiment
  • plan next steps

Notes

  • discussed draft for section 15.1 of the CCR guidelines and arrived at the following proposed voting procedure
    1. voting period starts when a doodle is available
    2. it runs for 2 weeks
    3. if 80% of the coordinators voted, and 70% of them agree the vote is final
    4. if not the voting period is extended for another week
    5. coordinators who haven't voted yet are reminded to do so
    6. if 80% of the coordinators voted, and 70% of them agree the vote is final
    7. if not the vote has failed, and the item has to re-enter the agenda (or be disregarded)
  • Ineke and Menzo will put this in section 15.1 and start a vote on it:
    1. this vote will need input from all coordinators
    2. if 70% of them agree the procedure will be used from then on
    3. if not the voting procedure has to be discussed again
  • discussed the VLO concept set, however, we keep on trying to reconstruct the 2 year old discussion and also keep reiterating the specific versus generic concepts discussion, so we decided to use the VLO facet tooltips as a fresh starting point for new experiments along both lines
    1. specific concepts, i.e., define a concept that fits one-to-one to a facet
    2. generic concepts, i.e., one or more concept in one or more specific context fit to a facet
  • two teams will work on these approaches in November and present their results early December
    1. specific concepts: Ineke and Lars, but feel free to join them!
    2. generic concepts: Menzo, Oddrun and Matej, but feel free to join them!
  • Ineke will select 5 facets on which both teams will put extra focus

action list

  • [Ineke and Menzo] complete section 15.1 of the CCR guidelines and initiate the vote
  • [Ineke] select 5 facets to focus upon
  • [Ineke and Lars (and you?)] work on specific concept definitions for the (5) facets
  • [Menzo, Oddrun and Matej (and you?)] work on generic concepts and their semantic contexts for the (5) facets
