Minutes

• Benedikt has setup a [fsd-cloud22.fz-juelich.de] in the DMZ of FZJ where in the future the CLARIN monitoring can run. It will also be possible for CLARIN administrators to access it via ssh. Puppet is managing everything on that machine (firewall, apache, ...). This can be changed if needed - contact Benedikt in that case.
• ASV Leipzig will take over the responsibility for the monitoring on the longer term.
• About the current installation:
  • It is based on Icinga 1 since the PyNag? currently only supports v1 config files.
  • It includes the output of the RZG/MPCDF monitoring ​NSCA daemon.
• Questions for next time:
  • Is it worth upgrading to Icinga 2? (pros/cons?) Thomas Hynek (ASV) can tell about the local experiences with it. Possible issues:
    • NCSA support?
    • NagViz? support? Alternative?
    • PyNag? support? Alternative?
  • Role of Docker? Right now it is only used to test the configuration.
  • Status of the checks: false alerts? (eg ssl handshake issues)
