Minutes

  1. Formalia: Agreeing on agenda, secretary
    • The agenda was accepted, Martin was chosen secretary.
  2. Status of CoC Proposal, next steps (Dieter)
    • The DP Code of Conduct was accepted as a Clarin center requirement.
    • Martin and Oliver agreed to help with the conformity
  3. Status of SPF, Strategy, pending additions (Dieter, Martin)
    • It seems https://sp.corpus1.mpi.nl and https://portal.clarin.inl.nl/are not yet added to DFN-AAI and Haka
    • corpus1 has technical problems in Shibboleth configuration, MPI and DFN-AAI debug the issue
    • We have a problem with backlogs, search for an administrator is on its way. The backlog is likely to stay until the position is filled.
    • Dieter will attend the TF EMC2 in Zürich: http://www.terena.org/activities/tf-emc2/meetings/26/ He is promoting the SPF to all European federations.
    • Dieter suggests to open the SPF to non-Clarin SPs.
    • Dieter suggests to distribute the SPF-SP metadata via the eduGAIN feed. Martin promises to ask an opinion from Haka on this.
    • The goal would be to combine the best of both worlds: The functioning eduGAIN feed and the level of trust in the SPF
    • Oliver suggests we could our own entity categoryt
  4. Promoting the CoC (Martin)
    • Martin presented his idea to approach a few selected IdPs directly.
    • Approach: approach organizations by phone or mail backed by the eduGAIN CoC endorsement letter. Selling points would be existing services like lat, weblicht.
    • For this to be attractive we would need more concrete services to be up and running which are part of eduGAIN and/or the SPF. Corpus1.mpi.nl would be one, Martin Wynne in Oxford is working on Samlifiying BNC. The Phonetic corpora at BAS are in the process of joining the SPF, they also would be a good reference.
    • Martin's approach was received with healthy scepticism, since there is a lot of risk involved. Martin will report back on the progress in the next meeting.
  5. Action points
    • Thomas: Hook up BAS with the SPF
    • Martin: https://wiki.edugain.org/CLARIN; Contact Feide to accept the CoC.
    • Dieter: Promote the SPF in Zürich.; Contat Feide to opt-in to the SPF.
