Meeting notes

CMDI 1.2 Toolkit

During and after the meeting in Utrecht last may, tests were added, some issues were found and resolved. Currently all tests pass. Coverage could be improved, please add interesting (broken) records to the tests or send them to Menzo. The downgrade (CMDI 1.2 -> 1.1) conversion has not yet been implemented. The explicit references to ISOCat and data categories in namespaces and attribute or element names will be taken out. Terminology that can be used: 'concept link, concept value link'.

Work on the toolkit or part of it can be done in the context of CLARIN+.

Work on integration the new toolkit with the Component Registry will most likely start early 2016.

  • [] Implement CMDI 1.2 -> 1.1 conversion (Menzo)
  • [] Remove ISOcat references in toolkit (Menzo)
  • [] Extend toolkit coverage (everyone)
  • [] Integrate toolkit with Component Registry + add new UI features (Twan)

CMDI 1.2 specification

During and after the meeting in Utrecht in may, a plan was made for writing a specification document for CMDI 1.2. The structure of this document will mimic that of the ISO draft (Thorsten can supply you with a copy if you have not seen it) so that we end up with parallel and most importantly compatible specifications. Ideally the CMDI 1.2 specification will be finished in time for the new version of the ISO draft to be written with compatibility in mind (this should happen sometime within the next half year).

The work that has been done towards writing the CMDI 1.2 specification has thus far consisted of the preparation of an initial glossary. Except for the section on semantic mapping (currently described in terms of data categories) we have reached a level of consensus that allows us to start working on a first iteration of the specification contents. Oddrun, Thomas and Twan will prepare these first versions, which can then be reviewed by others (mainly task force members) and subsequently further revised. We will have a video conference mid November (a doodle will be sent out soon) to discuss this first iteration. In the next two weeks, Menzo and Twan will revise the semantics section of the glossary.

  • [] Pick a date for a video conference between 13-18 November
  • [] Replace glossary items w.r.t. semantic registry and concepts (Menzo, Twan)
  • [] Reset review state of glossary document (i.e. resolve all comments)
  • [] After that: new round of reviewing/revising glossary (everyone)
  • [] Write initial version of specification sections (Oddrun, Thomas, Twan)
  • [] Discuss specification draft in video conference (everyone)
