Proposed by Susanne Haaf:
Maybe we should provide a "Clear search"-option, for instance under "Search options".
This could be a textual link, or an icon either inside or outside the search box. It should look and behave more or less like the HTML5 'search' input but cause a direct (AJAX) update, removing the textual search query. Support for the actual 'search' input may be a bit limited at this point and moreover the VLO is not in HTML5 but XHTML 1.1.
