Description
Last week I updated node/4322.
I can see the updated version at:
https://www.clarin.eu/event/2016/clarin-plus-workshop-working-digital-collections-newspapers
But when I visit the website as an unauthenticated user, and type in clarin.eu I see the old version at:
http://clarin.eu/event/2016/clarin-plus-workshop-working-digital-collections-newspapers
Should 'http://clarin.eu' be rewriting to 'https://www.clarin.eu'?

Martin, thanks for letting me know. This is a very serious issue you've stumbled upon. Contrary to what the UU ICT & media administrators have announced in response to my earlier request to them over e-mail, they have failed to disable the old website! Since the address ‘clarin.eu’ is technically different from ‘www.clarin.eu’, and we regrettably still had an inconspicuous outdated record (domain name) ‘clarin.eu’ pointing to the old website, you were dealing with two different websites.
The proper address of the website is of course https://www.clarin.eu/. Rewriting https://clarin.eu to this proper address is only possible now that I've made a domain name change, but I'm not sure it will work perfectly since it wasn't tested due to the misleading dual website situation up to now. Please do not use any address other than the proper address and in case you see any mention of an address that deviates (e.g. http://, or missing www) do correct those mentions please.

Thanks Sander. Please note that we cannot retroactively change all mentionings of http://clarin.eu or http://www.clarin.eu - these will need to be supported in the future (ideally with a redirect). It is OK that they do not working in this (short) transition phase though.

Dieter, I was only discussing http(s)://clarin.eu
, the missing www
variety. As we have discussed and as I indicated all rewrite rules are in place. It is good though to retroactively change mentions of incorrect URLs, despite fallbacks being in place. This tool, Moz works very well for that purpose. I'll ask Linda to try and contact webmasters who have incorrect URL mentions. Then, moving forward, we at least clarified to outsiders what the canonical, official address for our website really is.

Sorry but changing the references by asking webmasters etc to change URLs is a never-ending story (not to mention books, articles, etc). We will have to live with the different variants being linked to. I'm sure people will automatically move on to quoting the https + www variants now that the rewrites are in place. Let us concentrate on getting the content and layout of the site in a better state instead ;-)

Fixed a month ago, rigorously fixed as of today. The various URLs that should work are now automatically tested after each website maintenance event.
