      • [] Menzo can convert current state of spreadsheet to vocab
      • [] Start discussion with curation task force to get this going
    • Guidelines for vocabulary modelling (e.g. hierarchies, use of collections) are desirable

    • December Vienna meeting?

Notes

Present: Alexander, Hanna, Menzo, Oddrun, Twan

Best practices

  • Best practices editing guide updated for Overleaf/LaTeX
  • CMDValidate markers now rendered correctly/nicely (not as regular notes)
  • FAIR metrics:
    • Menzo made a sheet to align the best practices and fair metrics
    • Some metrics still need to be evaluated, others need clarification, discussion
    • We could contact the authors; some we know and/or are based in the Netherlands, we could contact them easily
    • Menzo will work this out a bit more. We can integrate it into the best practices at a later stage.
  • Publish new version of the guide
    • v1.2.0 is ready for publication (TODO: Twan) after the following TODOs have been completed
      • [x] Smells section on p.24 should get a page reference to p.13 where smells are introduced (Twan -> dccdf8)
      • [ ] Fix namespaces table rendering (e.g. rotated on separated page; TODO: Alex)
      • [ ] Add bibliography section (TODO: Menzo)
      • [x] Contributions and acknowledgements section has to be created (Twan -> f33173)

Common uses cases (document)

Susanne is not present so limited discussion possible

  • Potential new case: bibliographic metadata
    • GEI are modelling METS
    • Some open questions regarding modelling and concepts
    • In general an interesting case that could have relatively wide application, also an interesting case for best practices, common use cases
    • CLARIN (task force) representatives will discuss and try to closely monitor the work, offer guidance, and will report (TODO: Twan)

Recommended components/general info

The initiative is getting more concrete. Although not many people provided input or showed interest in participation at the bazaar in Pisa, we have several people that are interested and we are planning to invite a number of additional people so as to have a good representation of domains and existing approaches.

Main goals are to

  • define 'general info' components that can jointly form a general info component that can be generally applied in specific profiles and also forms the basis for a very generic profile
  • define a (to be determined) number of more application/domain specific components that can be considered 'recommended' within a certain context but not for general application

Plan is to

  • Start a working group (or other kind of CLARIN body) with members dedicated to pick up part of this effort
  • Plan for a real-life meeting some time in the mid term (ultimate opportunity seems the next centre meeting, but earlier would be nice)
  • In the meantime prepare information and a concrete plan, organise through remote meetings
  • Have some kind of online place/platform for working on this jointly
  • Align, at least to some degree, with the ISO 24622-3 work ('recommended compnents') which is currently in the hands of Maria Gavriilidou (ILSP)

Planning

  • Physical, mapping based curation centred meeting will take place on 6 December in Vienna
  • Next join task forces meeting with a focus on best practices and related efforts will take place in the second week of January
